In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

 Prompt: If I was to simplify my life down to the essential items not including food, clothing, water, etc. I would want to keep my cellphone, a guitar, a blank notepad. I would keep my phone incase anything went wrong, a guitar as something fun to do, and a notepad to draw and talk about my experiences. The hardest thing to leave behind would be my family and the people who care about me.

Summary: Today we read chapter 4 and completed a writable assignment about quotes from this chapter.

Reflection: I improved my skills of analyzing quotes and writing in first person.

 Prompt: A time someone’s words stuck with me was when my dad said, “Always double check your work carefully; small mistakes will upset you.” I had been careless on a math assignment and got a lower grade than I expected. Since then, I’ve been more careful and double-check my work before turning it in always. Summary: Today in class we continued to write our argumentative paragraph on ambush. Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

 Prompt: Two of my biggest questions in life are how were people really created, and why is it human nature to be violent/ start wars. These questions matter to me because I feel like knowing how/ why the human population was created would raise so many more questions about religion and evolution. Why people fight so much and do such horrible things to each other such as killings, racism, and wars all over is an important question to me because I do not understand why people have to treat others less than themselves. If people could just be nice and not so selfish then the world would be such a better place. This would help solve so many other problems quicker such as cancer or global warming because no one country would have to worry about another bombing them. Summary: In class today we worked on creating our own origin myth. Reflection: I learned more about my writing style, it was fun to be creative and make my own myth about how the world came to be.
