Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt: One time I paused to appreciate nature was after a light rain while walking my dogs. The streets were shiny, the air felt fresh, and I could hear the soft dripping of water from the trees, but it the sun started to shine through. Everything around me seemed calm and still, and I forgot about everything else. That quiet moment made me feel peaceful and reminded me to slow down and notice the simple beauty around me. Summary: Today we annotated a poem and started our one pager. Reflection: I improved my skills on annotating poetry.

In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt: A time I had to respect a boundary was when my friend wanted space after an argument. Even though I wanted to fix things right away, I gave them time to cool off. Waiting showed that I respected their feelings, and when we finally talked, it actually made our friendship stronger because they knew I cared about their comfort. Summary: Today in class we went over some poetry. Reflection: I learned of to annotate poetry better.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt: Over the summer, I realized how quickly childhood can fade. It felt like one day I was carefree, and the next I had real responsibilities and decisions to make. This connects to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay,” because those golden, simple times don’t last forever they change before we’re ready. Summary: Today in class we reviewed poems and took notes on "Nothing Gold can Stay" by Robert Frost. Reflection: I learned more about Robert Frosts poetry style.

Prompt: As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt: My favorite word right now is “debacle.” I like it because it sounds dramatic and really captures the feeling of a complete disaster or failure. I don’t use it a lot, but when I do, it perfectly sums up situations that go completely wrong in a fun, expressive way. Summary: Today in class we worked on our power point presentation. Reflection: I learned more about how I can reflect on my childhood.

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt: Imagination helps me handle challenges by giving me a way to escape and recharge. When I’m stressed or overwhelmed, I use my imagination to picture peaceful places, create stories, or think about future goals that inspire me. It helps me see beyond my problems and find new ways to cope. Like Frost wanting to “get away from earth awhile,” imagination gives me space to breathe before returning to reality with a clearer mind and stronger focus. Summary: Today in class we looked over and annotated a poem by Robert Frost Reflection: I learned how to annotate poems better.

reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt: One time I faced a risky situation was when I was learning to drive on a busy road. Cars were flying by, and I had to stay completely focused to avoid an accident. I kept my eyes on the road and followed every direction carefully. My focus helped me stay calm and safe, and it showed me how quickly things can go wrong if you lose concentration. Just like in Robert Frost’s poem. Summary: Today in class we went over the poem "Out, Out" by Robert Frost and annotated it. Reflection: I learned more about Robert Frost and got to analyze one of his pieces of poetry that I had never read before.

What did you do over the break?

These moments help me stay present and happy despite an hectic schedule. Summary: we worked on our argumentative paragraph. Reflection: I leaved how to revise my work.

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt: I had to step out of my comfort zone when I volunteered to help at a community event. I didn’t know anyone there, and I was nervous about talking to strangers. When I woke up, I was disappointed to realize it had only been a dream. Summary: Today in class we went over many different vocab words. Reflection: I learned a lot of new words and their meanings.

Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt:  I’ve always been curious about how evolution works and how every living thing is connected in some way. It’s amazing to think that tiny changes over millions of years can create completely new species. I wonder how scientists can trace those changes just from fossils and DNA. Evolution makes me realize how old and complex life on Earth really is. Summary: I was absent today. Reflection: I was absent today.

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt: One of the best gifts I have ever received is when I came back from a church trip and I kept telling my dad about this concert I wanted to go to. The concert was Paul McCartney and the pre-sale was while I would not have my phone. Once I got my phone back I asked my dad if he was able to get the tickets for us and I assumed that I would pay for my ticket and he would pay for his. My dad said he couldn't get them, but then I found some for much cheaper than what the standard cost was. My dad bought them on the spot and he said it was a gift, and he payed for my ticket.
